Hands of Mercy Everywhere (HOME), located in Belleview, Florida, provides a loving Christian home for pregnant and/or unwed teenage mothers and their babies.
HOME is housed in an historic building, built in 1885, which has been totally remodeled (three stories, 11 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, kitchen, dining room, office, parlor, and game room) and can accommodate 16 girls. Our office is in a converted garage, and there is an adjacent house for daycare.
HOME includes a community of supporters that help provide the resources needed for pregnant teenage girls to carry their child to term. We encourage the girls in their physical, mental, and spiritual development as we prepare them for responsible parenthood and/or adoption.
Our Purposes
- To provide an alternative to abortion
- To provide a loving home to unwed teen mothers and their babies
- To provided needed psychological, physical, spiritual and emotional care
- To teach teenage girls life skills necessary for parenting
History
In 1997,a group of Christians who felt strongly about stopping abortions had a dream of a home for unwed pregnant teens. In 2002, they were able to raise enough money to purchase the present property. The historical home was Belleview College in 1889, and then became Belleview library for a while. The HOME opened to pregnant teen girls in September 2004 and Diane Schofield was hired as the Executive Director. Now HOME operates as an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit.
